UGARING®

The UGAring® was created directly out of wartime necessity after learning about the challenges medics face when transporting patients with drainage tubes in the field. This device is designed for use in emergency and military medical settings.

Purpose

The UGARING® is a drainage tube stabilization device designed to secure and support drainage tubes outside the body directly on the insertion site. Attached to the skin with medical-grade adhesive tape, UGARING® holds tubes inserted to the chest cavity to drain fluids and minimize drain tube dislodgment.

The device applies to individuals who experience spontaneous pneumothorax or traumatic injuries that lead to the collection of air or blood in the pleural cavity. The current standard of care for securing a drainage tube is by sutures passed through the skin and tied off around the tube. The UGARING's simple application reduces the procedure time to less than 20 seconds.

Design

Manufactured in an ISO 9001 Certified facility, UGARING® is:

  • FDA Registered, Class I, 510(k) exempt device under Product Code KGZ.

  • Made of a semi-flexible polypropylene to reduce breakage while still providing a sturdy base for stabilization.

  • Designed with three holes for the option of sutures or staples to further secure the device if needed.

  • Attached to the skin with medical-grade adhesive tape to allow quick securement and minimize additional trauma to the skin.

  • Sterilized for use in emergency and military medical settings.

  • International Patents Pending

Our products will continue to undergo quality checks to maintain reliability and function.

How It Works

  1. Open the package: The UGARING® comes in a Tyvek pouch with a Chevron peel for easy opening.

  2. Prepare the device: Remove the adhesive liner from the base of the UGARING®.

  3. Attach to the body: Expand the arm of the UGARING® to insert the drainage tube, then apply the adhesive to the body at the tube's entry point.

  4. Stabilize the tube: Clamp the drainage tube as tightly as possible to ensure it remains stable

  5. Secure the UGARING®: Verify that the device is firmly attached to the body. If additional security is needed, use the three provided holes for sutures or staples.
